The Bean

Authors note: This is another imitation piece in which I explore my relationship with a specific food and how the food reflects me, my background, and my place in the world. I did my best to include personal experiences today, how I grew up. How others treated this food. Covering some mild racist comments, at myself. And I included some scientific facts. Exploring this was fun and I think I later on I will extend this piece.

UV is a second year in Fresno State’s MFA program where she focuses on her discipline in fiction writing and more recently indulging in creative nonfiction. She has published in the San Joaquin Review, the first edition in Behemoth Lit Magazine, and Lee Herrick’s OUR CALIFORNIA.
